Frequently asked questions
Is Quba really free?
Yes. Quba is free forever. Every feature is included, with no ads, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and nothing locked.
Does Quba work offline?
Yes. The Quran text, translation, tafsir, prayer times and Qibla all work without a connection. Recitations stream by default; download a surah to listen to it offline.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Bookmarks, settings and reading progress are kept on your phone.
Does Quba track me?
No. Quba has no analytics, no advertising and no third-party trackers, and collects no personal data.
Do you need my location?
No. Location is only used on your phone to calculate prayer times and the Qibla, and it never leaves the device. You can instead pick your city from a built-in list, and no location is used at all.
Which platforms is Quba available on?
iPhone and Android. Download it on the App Store at https://apps.apple.com/app/id6815371981 or on Google Play at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.naserkakadost.quran.
Which languages are available?
The app is in English, Swedish and Arabic. Tafsir is available in English, Arabic, Turkish, Indonesian, French, Bengali and Persian.
Which reciters are included?
Mishary Alafasy, Abdul Basit, Al-Husary, Al-Minshawi, Al-Sudais and Maher Al-Muaiqly. The verse being recited is highlighted as you follow along, and surahs can be downloaded to listen offline.
Which tafsir does Quba include?
Al-Mukhtasar in English, Turkish, Indonesian, French, Bengali and Persian, and Al-Muyassar in Arabic. All of it is bundled with the app, so it works offline.
How are prayer times calculated?
On your phone, from your location and the date, using 12 standard calculation methods that are picked automatically for your country. The Hanafi Asr option is available.
My prayer times are a few minutes off from my mosque.
Open the prayer settings and check the calculation method (12 are available, plus Hanafi Asr). You can also adjust any single prayer by a few minutes to match your mosque’s timetable.
The Qibla compass points the wrong way.
Move away from metal objects and electronics, then calibrate your phone’s compass by moving it in a figure of eight. The Qibla needs a real device; it does not work in a simulator.
I don’t get the adhan notification.
Make sure notifications are allowed for Quba in your phone’s settings, and that the adhan is turned on for that prayer in the app’s notification settings. On Android, also allow “Alarms & reminders” so alerts arrive exactly at prayer time.
