Unit 2 · Lesson 9
Sukūn
Letters without a vowel
A small circle on a letter, the sukūn, means the letter has no vowel. It closes the syllable, so you join it to the vowel before it.
Reading syllable by syllable
Break a word into syllables: each one starts with a letter that has a vowel, and a letter with sukūn closes it.
