Introducing Quba

Why we built a Quran and prayer app with no ads, no account and nothing locked, and where the name comes from.

Quba is a Quran, recitation, prayer-times and Qibla app for iPhone and Android. It is free, it has no ads, and it works without an account or an internet connection.

Why another Quran app?

Most of us open a Quran or prayer app several times a day. Too often that moment of worship begins with a banner ad, a subscription prompt or a request to sign in. We wanted an app that gets out of the way: open it, read, listen, pray.

So Quba keeps the essentials together in one quiet place:

  • The Quran in clear Uthmani script, with a modern English translation, footnotes and tafsir under every verse
  • Recitations from six renowned reciters, with the current verse highlighted as you listen
  • Prayer times calculated on your phone, with the adhan or a gentle notification
  • The Qibla, with the distance and exact bearing to the Kaaba

Around those sit smaller tools: a guide to praying salah step by step, a 30-day path for people new to Islam, memorisation tracking, a tasbih counter, a Hijri calendar and a zakat calculator.

Where the name comes from

Masjid Quba is the first mosque in Islam. The Prophet ﷺ built it when he arrived at Madinah on the Hijrah, and praying there remains a beloved sunnah. We hope the app can be a small place of return in your day, too.

Free, forever

Every feature is free and always will be. There are no ads, subscriptions or in-app purchases, and nothing is locked.

If something could be better, or something isn't working, please get in touch. We read every message.
